Helpful advice

Your questions.
Clear answers.

From your first survey to caring for your stove, here’s what to know.

Are you a registered installer?

Yes. Pentland Stoves is HETAS registered. Our installations are carried out with safety and building regulation requirements in mind.

What types of stoves do you install?

We install wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves, including solid-fuel options. We can advise on a suitable stove based on room size, efficiency and heating requirements.

Do I need my chimney relined before installing a stove?

Possibly. If your chimney is damaged, deteriorated or unsuitable for your new stove, we may recommend relining to improve safety, efficiency and draught. We can assess this during your survey.

What is the difference between single-skin and twin-wall flue systems?

Single-skin and insulated twin-wall flue systems suit different installation requirements. Twin-wall systems can be used for internal and external runs. We will assess your home and recommend the appropriate system.

Can you install fireplaces and hearths?

Yes. We install fireplaces, mantelpieces, and granite or slate hearths to complement your stove, with attention to safety and a durable finish.

Do you offer chimney repairs or removal?

Yes. Our services include chimney repairs, structural fixes and removal where necessary, including when an existing chimney is no longer suitable.

How long does a stove installation take?

Most installations take 1–3 days, depending on chimney work, the flue system and hearth construction. We provide a clearer timeframe after surveying your home.

Will my installation be clean and safe?

We take pride in clean, professional workmanship and installations that meet the relevant safety requirements.

Do I need a survey before installation?

Yes. We recommend a free initial survey to inspect your chimney, fireplace and room layout, so we can recommend the right stove, flue system and hearth.

How do I maintain my stove?

Use dry, seasoned wood or the recommended fuels. Regularly check for chimney and flue deposits and arrange professional checks, especially after heavy use.
